It had begun to seem that the Saturday morning parkrun sunshine was never coming back . . but the record number of 268 parkrunners who came along to take part in Ashton Court's 100th event found that there was sunshine in the air . . you'll see them enjoying the heat in this short video of them slogging their way towards the top of the hill . .

As always, 30 minutes before start time saw very few runners but lots of activity as the Volunteers prepared for the morning's event . .

I made my way to the first marshalling point, a little before the 1st kilometre . . and was chased up the slope by club mates warming up . . and almost chased down again by others haring down on their bikes . .

We don't always see the deer on a Saturday morning, but they too were enjoying the sunshine . .

I found a spot beside Greville Smythe's head to watch the start . .

. . and didn't have long to wait before the runners were coming towards me . .

Once they'd gone there wasn't much time to look around . .

. . because it only took 6 minutes for the leader to come racing back down the hill towards the finish . .

. . and another 32 minutes before the Volunteers came strolling down . .
